Broadsheet - The INDEPENDENT:
Masthead
- A mature, formal font
- Black in colour - plain and formal
- Capitalisation shows the dominance and importance of the newspaper
Anchorage - the way in which text is used to help pin down the mood or meaning.
- The caption is not humours, no puns
- The layout is text-heavy and fewer images
- Stories tend to be about current affairs (political and cultural), rather than gossip
Tabloid - The Sun:
Masthead
- Uses a Sans Serif fonts
- Red background to establish branding
Main heading
- Very large text - eye catching to the readers
- Informal language - dyphensism
- It's about Prince Andy and they such say "Andy" which is informal and not respectful
- Sans Serif font - more immature
- Buzz words - makes the reader want to find out more
- Puns - engaging and 'fun' to younger readers
- Image-heavy - more appealing to readers
- Sexualised images, revealing of females - (The Male Gaze theory)
- Layout is busy due to the use of fonts and colours
